SCLC NorthGI and Liver Centers

About

Academic-level liver care, closer to home.

Southern California GI and Liver Centers were built for patients who have already been told their liver disease is complicated. SCLC North is that practice in Orange County and Los Angeles.

Founder and medical director

Dr. Tarek Hassanein

Tarek Hassanein, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF, FAASLD, is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology. He is a Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

He specializes in viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and the care of patients before and after liver transplantation. He was instrumental in establishing three major liver transplant programs. Patients come to this practice for the most advanced and complicated liver diseases in the world, and they stay because the team does not hand them off after one visit.

SCLC North exists so that same standard is available in Garden Grove, Century City, Tarzana, and Panorama City. You do not start over when you walk in. The chart is read. The history is taken by a hepatologist. The plan includes the rest of your health: diabetes, weight, heart, alcohol, nutrition, and the life you are trying to get back.

Sister practices

One team. Three doors.

SCLC North is a mirror of the San Diego practice you already know as livercenters.com, and of the whole-patient fatty-liver program at fattylivercenters.com. Same medical director. Same HALO process. Same research bench. Different parking lot.

We offer telemedicine when a video visit is the right tool. If you would rather sit in a room with us, call (888) 616-5469 and pick Garden Grove, Century City, Tarzana, or Panorama City.
